AfroHealth Initiative or AHI is a collective of global Health professionals from the African Diaspora. Our mission is to create and collaborate focused on solutions to strengthen healthcare systems across the African continent.

How did we start?

It was love at first hackathon. A year ago, we all met at ‘African Healthcare Hackathon’ in London. After 2 days of intense competition, we knew we wanted to see our ideas go beyond the event, but we just didn’t know our next steps. After a ton of meetings , we realised we wanted to create something bigger that expanded beyond our individual ideas. We wanted to a platform for people like us to create and collaborate on innovative healthcare solutions for Africa.

So how do you intend to do this?

We hope to achieve this by creating a space to discuss and challenge current healthcare systems on the African continent. But most importantly we want to facilitate the growth of new ideas and support grass root health organisations on the ground.

What can we expect from you?

We are based in the UK but, hope to expand soon. For now we plan to host a number of panel events, create conversation starting blog posts (maybe not this one though), engage with grassroots projects on the continent and support idea development. Baby steps.

What makes you different? There are many organisations like yours out there.

And you are right. However, our platform will serve as meeting point for all individuals and organisations who have ideas but need the tools and space to make their health focused ideas a reality.

Where do we go from here?

From here, visit our social and follow us.

We’ll be posting more articles soon…
